New Paintings Finished

The painting continues...This Cove No. 1 completed and listed for SALE online at

Here's painting Cove No. 2 still in progress and should be completed soon.  Both of these paintings are same ones I listed recently.  Although the 3 mini canvases I started last week are still waiting for attention.  It's strange since there so small it seems like I would have finished them quickly.  And although I've looked at them I haven't painted any further on them.  But in writing this....I'm wondering maybe they are completed or at least close to finished.  Just a few strokes and they'll be done.  Sometimes I think because I'm very detailed oriented I'm always seeing more work to be done.  But simple is very nice.  So I've been puposing to be aware and listening to the inner voice....knowing when to back off....and let simplicity reign.

These next ones are a new adventure for me....Abstracts.

This is titled: Yellow Sails and will be listed in my online shop.  I really like the coloring and the flow. My son Alex said it reminded him of the view looking out of his office at Blue Lime Studios located on Bay Street in Savannah Georgia.  He likes the painting for different reasons than I but that's the wonderful thing about ART.  It's a personal experience and there isn't any right or wrong.

Yeah, it's lovely.  It's not required but for me as an artist there's always a pleasure in the creating process.  Sometimes I paint with an image in mind and then sometimes I paint out of a mood.  There are a lot of times especially when I've been busy with the tasks of daily living or the "cares of the world" are lapping at my shores......that I see colors and colors mixing in my mind's eye and I have a sense of pushing to get the shades out of my thoughts and onto paper or canvas.  Which is really the only way to empty them out of me.  This was a push with the colors inside my thoughts wanting to be released.  It's done.

Now here's another light hearted Abstract which I've just finished and titled:  Ocean Gold.

The waves crashing into shore......

I have plans of much painting this weekend at the lake.  Ahhhhh  "plein aire".  Although I didn't get my studio set to work in yet at the lake I will be setting up around one of the lakes to enjoy the fresh air, sun, and outdoors.  I expect it to be a very creative and enjoyable time for me.  I'll post the results of the painting next week or sooner if there's a moment of free time.  Celebrate Memorial Day!  A lot of people have paid with lives to protect the Freedom we enjoy daily.  Let's remember their sacrifice with respect.

A Red Sunset

Here's one of my personal favorites. It's actually hanging in my home. I have plans of painting some other red sunsets too.

New Miniatures

I did some work in my home studio on Thursday. I have 6 new paintings started. Four of them are miniatures on wrapped canvas with three tiny easels to display the finished work. Two others are 5x7 canvas boards.

I was able to get a few of the visions out of my head and expressed on canvas. Some of these should be completed this weekend.

Then I'll be able to start some other large acrylic landscapes involving looking down a country road that turns into a forest area. A Turning Point.....bright sunshine streaming through the trees in the forest, but you can't see where the road leads or ends. But there's bright sunshine.

These photos are some shots of these 6 paintings
i started on Thursday. Please i welcome any of your comments.

Photos of ACEOs and 2 other lake scenes, Acrylic Paintings started today

So here are some shots of the 6 paintings I'm working on today. My day ran away with me and I didn't get back working to finish these paintings. Four are miniatures and 2 are 5x7 lake scenes. I'm pleased with these beginnings and hope to work on them some more tomorrow. The one 5x7 should be completed with one more setting. And the miniatures should be close to finished. My hopes are to begin some other Acrylic paintings this weekend. I'm really anxious to get more of my paintings listed at my Etsy Shoppe.

But here's the first viewing.....a special sneak preview just for you my blogger friends. The actual pieces should be listed at my Shoppe on www.CarolynSalinas.etsy.com within the next couple of weeks.

Please yah or nay I would be delighted with any comments from you. Thanks, Cms

Painting ACEO's

Well, I've started 5 new landscapes, Acrylics, miniature lake scenes ACEO size, 2 1/2 x 3 1/2.

I started them yesterday and should finish them later tonight. There just resting for now. When I'm painting I'm usually working on 5 or 6 pieces. Truth is I'm always multi-tasking whether working, painting, or simply thinking.

I've also started some 5x7 canvas boards, lake scenes also along with some pond views. I'll post some pictures later of these paintings along with photos of the ACEO's too.

Gotta rush now it's Friday and I'm on my way to my mother's home to help her out.

Layers Of Vision

So today was taken from me by routine obligations. My car in the shop and ready for pick-up and my daughter's car in another shop and ready for pick-up...oh yeah and they must be paid for too. Whoa...the drama of everyday living.

So I'm driving around (in my son's car, which I borrowed for the day), handling the daily tasks which must be done. But in between conversations and duties my mind is thinking and planning on those individual paintings of each of the lake cottages at my new studio location. The cottages in true Midwest style are campers & trailers with porches and deck attachments. You know, a working man's vacation home. There wonderful, glorified shanties with air conditioning and televisions. While providing you with a delightful rustic break to a more simple way of living.

See some of the snapshots below of these wonderful cottages. Now with an artists eye, some paint, and canvas I will transform these wonderful little cottages into the beautiful little treasures they are....in fact, my first one completed is the Original Acrylic Painting titled: Weekend View listed above in color and black & white prints. The other mixed media painting shown above, The Boat Landing is my rendition of the boat landing at the big lake located in this small camping community.

A New Studio Site

An Additional Studio Location:
I'm looking forward to painting at an additional studio site.
This year my time at the lake should produce some marvelous images. Along with lots of ideas for new projects. Not that I'm ever short of "new" ideas because they are always coming forth.

I'm feeling a new confidence and freedom so I'm expecting many paintings being produced. We'll see. But whatever the product you'll be the first ones to know and to see it. This spot will become my unveiling room for finished items. I will be displaying them here even before I have them listed at my Etsy Shop, http://www.carolynsalinas.etsy.com/
